Prof. Dr. Sundarapandian Vaidyanathan from Vel Tech Received the Award from the Union Minister of Human Resource Development Mr. Prakash Javadekar on March 20 in New Delhi for the Most Outstanding Research Faculty for Computer Science in India . The Award carries a Cash Prize and a Citation has been constituted by Careers360 to recognise the efforts of India’s brightest minds in the field of Academic Research.

Dr. V. Sundarapandian (Professor and Dean, Research and Development Centre) of Vel Tech University (India) was the General Chair and Keynote Speaker for the Fourth International Conference on Advanced Information Technologies and Applications (ICAITA-2015), which was held at the Coral Deira Hotel, Dubai, United Arab Emirates during Nov. 6-7, 2015.

ICAITA-2015 is an International Conference, which was organized by the Academy & Industry Research Collaboration Center (AIRCC) and Dr. V. Sundarapandian is the India Chair of AIRCC. In 2015, Dr. V. Sundarapandian had also delivered Keynote Addresses in the AIRCC International Conferences conducted at Chennai and Dubai.

The Proceedings of ICAITA-2015 was published in the AIRCC CS & IT Conference Proceedings (Vol. 5, No. 15, 2015, ISBN: 978-1-921987-43-4) and edited by Jan Zizka (Mendel University in Brno, Czech Republic) and Dhinaharan Nagamalai (Wireilla Communications, Australia).

In ICAITA-2015, Dr. V. Sundarapandian delivered the Keynote Address on the modelling and applications of chaotic systems. In this special talk, he pointed out the various novel chaotic systems he has recently discovered with his international research collaborators and also the recent applications of chaos theory in science and engineering.

ICAITA-2015 was attended by over 24 scientists from 15 different countries of the world. Dr. V. Sundarapandian chaired all the sessions of the ICAITA-2015. ICAITA-2015 attracted many local and international delegates, presenting a balanced mixture of intellect from the East and from the West.

ICAITA-2015 brought together researchers, scientists, engineers, students and practitioners to exchange and share their experiences, new ideas and research results in all aspects of the main conference themes and tracks.

In this special talk, he pointed out the various novel chaotic and hyperchaotic systems he has recently discovered and also the recent applications of chaos theory in science and engineering. Especially, he discussed his new results on the 4-D hyperchaotic Rikitake dynamo system and its circuit simulation.

Dr. V. Sundarapandian (Professor and Dean, R & D Centre) of Vel Tech University served as the Honorary General Chair for the Second International Conference on Control, Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT-2014) and the First International Conference on Automation, Control, Engineering and Computer Science (ACECS-2014), which were successfully conducted at the El Mouradi Skanes Hotel, Monastir, Tunisia during March 22-27, 2014.

CEIT-2014 was jointly organized by Mr. Ahmed Rhif (High Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology of Sousse, Tunisia) and Dr. V. Sundarapandian (Vel Tech University, India). Vel Tech University was the main Academic Partner for CEIT-2014 and ACECS-2014 International Conferences at Tunisia. Dr. V. Sundarapandian (India) and Dr. Ahmad Taher Azar (Egypt) served as the Honorary General Chairs for CEIT-2014. Dr. Nidhal Bouaynaya (USA), Dr. Mohamed Djemai (France) and Dr. Kais Bouallegue (Tunisia) served as the General Chairs for CEIT-2014. Dr. V. Sundarapandian (India) and Dr. Nidhal Bouaynaya (USA) served as the Honorary General Chairs for ACECS-2014. Dr. Quanmin Zhu (UK), Dr. Ahmad Taher Azar (Egypt) and Dr. Mohamed Djemai (France) served as the General Chairs for ACECS-2014. Technical Program Chairs of CEIT-2014 and ACECS-2014 included many Professors from Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, India, China, Taiwan, Iraq, Greece, Egypt, Morocco, Malaysia, UK, France, Poland and Switzerland. In ACECS-2014, a special session on “Chaos and its Applications” was jointly organized and conducted by Dr. V. Sundarapandian (India) and Dr. Christos Volos (Greece).

CEIT-2014 and ACECS-2014 featured special lectures, oral presentations and poster sessions. Over 150 technical papers were presented in the conferences from international researchers hailing from several countries. Dr. V. Sundarapandian gave the welcome address on March 23rd and highlighted the objectives of the CEIT-2014 and ACECS-2014 Conferences. In the special session on Chaos, Dr. Sundarapandian highlighted his recent research results on the novel chaotic systems he has discovered in the last few years and pointed out their significance and applications. In the closing session of CEIT-2014 and ACECS-2014 Conferences, Dr. Sundarapandian thanked all the international committee members for their work and the international delegates for making the Conferences a grand success.

On March 23rd, a half-day excursion was organized to visit Al Quayrawan (Tunisia), the fourth holiest city in Islam. The city’s main attraction is the Great Mosque of Sidi-Uqba, which is said to largely consist of its original building materials. The Great Mosque is considered as one of the most important monuments of Islamic civilization as well as a worldwide architectural masterpiece.

After CEIT-2014 and ACECS-2014, Dr. Sundarapandian organized and conducted a 2-days MATLAB workshop on Intelligent Control, Chaos, Sliding Mode Control and its applications. CEIT-2014 and ACECS-2014 were a joint effort of many countries including Tunisia, India, Egypt and Algeria. The Conferences were a great success with fruitful academic exchanges between the international delegates. It has been tentatively planned to conduct CEIT-2015 during April 18-21 at Tlemcen, Algeria.

Dr. V. Sundarapandian (Professor and Dean, R & D Centre) of Vel Tech University served as the Chief Resource Person for the 2-Days Research Workshop on “Fuzzy Logic, Optimization and Operations Research using MATLAB”, which was organized by School of Computer Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM-Penang) during the dates Sept. 26-27, 2013. Vel Tech University, India was an Academic Partner for organizing this Workshop at USM-Penang, Malaysia.

This research workshop was attended by 40 participants from Industry and Academia, and conducted at the Lab 4, Level 3 of the School of Computer Sciences, USM-Penang Campus, Malaysia. The research objectives of this workshop were to introduce the state of the art methods in modelling with fuzzy logic, solving optimization and operations research problems using MATLAB toolboxes for fuzzy logic and optimization.

In the inaugural function of this Workshop, Dr. Azman Samsudin (Associate Professor and Deputy Dean-Research, School of Computer Sciences, USM) welcomed all the participants and the Chief Guest – Dr. V. Sundarapandian. Dr. Azman highlighted the new research areas in modelling and artificial intelligence and the research objectives of this Workshop. In the inaugural function, Dr. Sundarapandian thanked USM-Penang and Vel Tech University for organizing this Research Workshop and outlined the scope and objectives of the Workshop. In the Workshop, Dr. Sundarapandian successfully delivered research lectures with hands-on training on fuzzy logic modelling on Day 1 (Sept. 26, 2013). He also delivered research lectures with hands-on training on optimization and operations research on Day 2 of this Workshop (Sept. 27, 2013). He had a great interaction with all participants during the Workshop.

In the closing function, Prof. Ahamad Tajudin Khader (Dean, School of Computer Sciences, USM) thanked all the participants for their good feedback and also the chief guest – Dr. V. Sundarapandian for successfully conducting the Research Workshop.

Vel Tech University was the main Academic Partner for CEIT-2013. Dr. V. Sundarapandian (India) and Dr. Nabil ben Kahla (Tunisia) served as the Honorary General Chairs for CEIT-2013. Prof. Massato Oguchi (Japan), Prof. Chang-Hua Lien (Taiwan) and Dr. Kais Bouallegue (Tunisia) served as General Chairs for CEIT-2013. Technical Program Chairs of CEIT-2013 included many Professors from Algeria, Turkey, USA, Canada, France and Bulgaria. In CEIT-2013, a special Tutorial on “Chaos and Biomedical Engineering for Fractal Systems” was jointly organized and conducted by Dr. V. Sundarapandian (India), Dr. Ahmed Taher Azhar (Egypt) and Dr. Kais Bouallegue (Tunisia).

CEIT-2013 was the fruit of a nice collaboration between Indian, Tunisian and Algerian researchers. CEIT-2013 was organized to have a high scientific level and cultural exchanges. CEIT-2013 received 324 submissions from 29 countries: Algeria, Belarus, China, Egypt, Finland, Germany, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Libya, Malaysia, Morocco, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, United Kingdom and USA. Only 198 papers were accepted for the oral technical sessions and other 60 papers accepted for poster sessions.
CEIT-2013 conference program featured 3 plenary sessions, 12 keynote lectures, 34 oral sessions, 3 tutorial sessions, two poster sessions, 3 excursions in Tunisia and a social meeting.
In his opening address, Dr. Sundarapandian welcomed all the delegates of CEIT-2013 and invited them to make fruitful academic collaboration with others and make more progress in their academic research. In his tutorial on chaos and control, Dr. Sundarapandian detailed the historical perspectives of chaos theory, the relevance of chaos theory in modern times and explained the various applications of chaos theory in science and engineering. In his keynote address on chaos synchronization, Dr. Sundarapandian detailed his latest results on complete synchronization of chaotic systems using sliding mode control and illustrated his results with sliding controller design for the synchronization of Liu-Yang chaotic systems (2010).

CEIT-2013 was a joint effort of Tunisia, India and Algeria and the Conference was a great success with fruitful academic exchanges between the CEIT-2013 delegates. It has been tentatively planned to conduct CEIT-2014 during 25-28 March 2014 at Monastir, Tunisia.

Sundarapandian had delivered many Keynote Addresses in the AIRCC Conferences conducted in India. In ICAITA-2012, Dr. V. Sundarapandian delivered the Keynote Address on the Control and Synchronization of Chaotic Systems and highlighted the new chaotic 3-D system and its circuit design (2012), a research work published in an Elsevier journal jointly with Dr. Ihsasn Pehlivan (Electrical Engineering, Sakarya University, Turkey).

ICAITA-2012 was attended by over 25 scientists from different parts of the World (India, China, Japan, Korea, France, Australia, UAE, Algeria, Malaysia, etc.) Dr. V. Sundarapandian chaired all the sessions of the ICAITA-2012 Conference and Dr. Hiromi Ban (Fukui University of Technology, Japan) co-chaired with him.

Sundarapandian (Professor, Research and Development Centre) of our University has been awarded SECOND PRIZE in AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE IN BOOK PRODUCTION 2012 by the Federation of Indian Publishers on 7 th September 2012 for his text-book titled, “Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations (With Laplace Transforms, Fourier Series and Applications)” published by McGraw Hill Education (ISBN: 9781259004568).
