Dr. Lenin Nagarajan
Professor & Dean(I/C), School of Mechanical and Construction
Dr. Lenin Nagarajan is a Professor and academic leader with over 20 years of experience in higher education, with expertise spanning academic administration, outcome-based education, curriculum development, accreditation, research, innovation and institutional strategic planning. He currently serves as Professor & Dean of the School of Mechanical and Construction at Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai.
He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University, an M.E. in Production Engineering from Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai, and a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering. His academic and professional journey includes teaching, research and leadership positions at different institutions. His areas of academic and research interest include manufacturing engineering, facility layout design, tolerance allocation, machinability, composite materials, and optimization of machining and welding processes. His recent research also encompasses abrasive waterjet machining, advanced materials, machine learning-based process optimization, sustainable manufacturing and additive manufacturing. Recent publications include research in Scientific Reports, Journal of Materials Research and Technology, Surface Review and Letters, Materials Chemistry and Physics and other international journals.
As Dean of the School of Mechanical and Construction, he has contributed to strengthening Mechanical, Aeronautical and Civil Engineering, with initiatives in student admissions, research infrastructure, funded proposals, faculty development, core-industry placements, aerospace and drone initiatives, laboratory development, accreditation and international academic activities. He has also organized international conferences and faculty development programmes, including a MeitY-sponsored Additive Manufacturing Technology Enhancement Programme.
Dr. Lenin is an active researcher and research supervisor, with 77 international journal publications documented in his academic profile, along with seven books/book chapters and numerous international and national conference contributions. He is a recognized Ph.D. supervisor of Anna University and Vel Tech University, and has successfully guided five scholars to Ph.D. completion.
