SCREW DRIVEN SOUND TESTING

SCREW DRIVEN SOUND TESTING A FRESH GROUND SURVEY TECHNOLOGY WORKING ESPECIALLY FOR SOFT CLAY

Tokyo City University, Japan Home Shield Corporation (JHS), and Nitto Seiko Co. Ltd. worked together to create the Screw Driving Sounding (SDS) soil testing equipment. The SDS test must be performed by one individual and requires very little energy to run. It may also determine numerous parameters for soil categorization and attributes without having to extrude the sample for laboratory examinations. This approach is most appropriate for investigating soils with SPT-N values below 15.

It is envisaged that via ongoing refinement, the SDS apparatus would soon be able to define stronger soils with SPT-N values larger than 15. SDS testing is not only quick, cheap, and does not require highly qualified people, but it also promotes sustainability by requiring significantly less energy to operate than SPT, which requires a big drilling machine for deep penetration. As a result, incorporating SDS into soil inquiry work improves long-term development. SDS test findings are assured to be of high quality because the approach employs Industrial Era 4.0 technologies in testing and data capture, as well as a cloud computing system to handle the obtained data. The SDS test is anticipated to supersede traditional soil assessment methods, especially in expansive soils or for reduced building and pavement constructions.
