ABOUT BIOTECHNOLOGY
The student undertaking the B,Tech Biotechnology course will gain insights on both the
Biological Sciences and engineering. The Engineering aspect of Biotechnology comes forth through
understanding of biotechnology specific Engineering subjects like Genetic Engineering, Bioprocess
Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Upstream and Downstream
engineering.

Engineering Biotechnology is directly concerned with transforming knowledge of biological science
into biologically-based manufacturing. Being well equipped for the future biotechnological
manufacturing process, it becomes of priority to identify subjects in which new engineering
techniques must be developed now or whenever they are needed in large-scale manufacturing.

DEPARTMENT VISION
To be a centre for excellence for nurturing future technologists to meet Existing and Emergent
Global socio-economic challenges in the fields of Biotechnology Engineering through sustainable
manner.

DEPARTMENT MISSION

1.To educate and cultivate effective and socially responsible Biotechnologists who can meet existing
and emerging global challenges.

2. To maintain vital state of art of research facilities to its students and faculty that impart core skills
to foster requisite competence and proficiency in Biotechnology and allied sciences.

3. To collaborate with world class organizations and educational institutions; enhancing analytical
skills and competency for industry and research.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF DEPARTMENT

 The Courses offered in the department integrates Biotechnology and entrepreneurship
through an array of multidisciplinary coursework, research and work-integrated units in
modern areas of studies. We encourage students in translating their ideas from products from
lab to life.

 The projects follow world renowed CDIO mode of instruction where students can take up
mini projects of their liking at any time of their studies and develop into products and
business ideas.

 Students are taught theoretical knowledge and practical skills in contemporary biotechnology
associated topics in the curriculum, and we offer foreign and industrial exposures as part of it.
