About Our Event

MATRIX is an Intercollegiate Management Festival

that nurtures future business leaders by blending theoretical insights with practical problem-solving. Through activities like case competitions, marketing challenges, and management quizzes, students can showcase their skills and enhance their strategic thinking.

GENERAL RULES

  • The registration fee is Rs.150 and the last date for registration is 26/02/2025.
  • There is no On-Spot registration.
  • Participants who have registered for on-stage events are not eligible to register for off-stage events.
  • Registration link for all the events is available at the end of the pdf.
  • Registration link will open on 5th February 2025.
  • All participants must present their ID cards or letters of authorization issued by their institutions at the registration desk.
  • Before registration, participants are kindly requested to review the rules of the respective events.
  • After registering, participants will receive an invitation to join a WhatsApp group specifically created for receiving event updates.
  • Props, dresses, stationery, special equipment, etc. will not be provided and will not be compensated for as well.
  • Discipline must be maintained on the campus.
  • Any form of vulgarity or plagiarism will lead to immediate disqualification.
  • All the events will commence at the scheduled time; Punctuality will be appreciated.
  • Judges’ decision will be final. Clarifications regarding the judgment will not be entertained.

BEAT BLAST

ADAPTUNE RULES:

  • Solo performance timing max 2 minutes.
  • Dance Style: freestyle (western, folk, classical, etc.)
  • There will be 2 rounds (Prelims & One – on – One Battle).

GROUP DANCE RULES:

  • A group consists of 3-10 members.
  • Duration: 3-5 minutes.
  • Each group is required to bring their own soundtrack on a pen drive.
  • Props may be used only with the prior permission of the event head coordinator.
  • Dance and songs should be free from vulgarity.

RHYTHM FEST

Group Singing Rules:

  • No. of participants - 2-10 members in a group.
  • Performance Time Limit: 5-6 mins.
  • Participants must bring their own instruments.
  • No. of rounds – 2.
  • Round 1 – Online video selection.
    • Should submit a video consisting of 3-5 minutes before 15th February 2025.
    • Send your videos to the coordinator’s (8220432839) telegram site with your institution name, band name, leader name, and leader’s mobile number.
  • Round 2 – On-stage event (Shortlisted candidates are allowed to participate in this round).

Solo Singing Rules:

  • Performance time: 3-5 mins.
  • No. of rounds - 1.
  • Songs should be free from vulgarity.

ADZAP

RULES:

  • 4 to 6 members per team.
  • Topics will be given on the spot, and 5 minutes will be given for preparation.
  • Every team has to present a 3-minute pitch on the stage.
  • In case participants exceed the time limit, the team will be disqualified.
  • Teams can choose different forms of expression like role play, short skits, jingles, short talk, or any other innovative form.
  • A decent dress code should be followed.
  • Properties like charts and sketches must be brought on their own.
  • Candidates who are participating in Adzap should not take part in any of the off-stage events.

EXECUTIVE WALK

RULES:

  • The minimum number of team members is 5 and the maximum number is 8 for the ramp walk.
  • Background music to be in an mp3 format in a pen drive and needs to be submitted to the event heads one hour prior to the event. Technical issues and format compatibility for the audio files will be the sole responsibility of the team.
  • Teams will be judged based on the costume, theme, walking, stance, and attitude.
  • The team should strictly adhere to the Theme.
  • Only formal outfits will be considered while evaluating the score.
  • Accessories and carrying some corporate properties for bonus points.

ROUND 1:

  • This round is fully a corporate walk. Maximum time allotted will be 6+2 minutes, including questions from a judge to a team.
  • The first 5 teams with high scores will be finalized for Round 2.

ROUND 2:

  • Concept Act: In this round, a situation will be given, and the team should prepare and perform within the given time.

GESTURE GENIUS (MIME)

RULES:

  • Each team can have a maximum of 8 members.
  • The performance should not exceed 5 minutes.
  • The mime should convey a clear concept and moral message.
  • Judging criteria: innovation, depiction of the situation, teamwork, and expressions.
  • Vulgarity in any form is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification.
  • Teams must bring their own props; the organizers will not provide anything.
  • Props and instrumental music are allowed. However, music must be submitted during registration.
  • Music should be instrumental only (no lyrics) and must be brought on a pen drive.

Management Master

RULES:

  • No. of participants - 1
  • There will be 3 rounds.
  • Round 1: Prelims - Paper Quiz (Based on Organization)
  • Round 2: Crisis situation - On spot.
  • Round 3: Brave the panel - Judges will evaluate each individual participant following a personal interview round.
  • Candidates participating in Best Manager are not supposed to participate in any on-stage event(s).
  • The participants have to show up with their resume for the event.
  • The participants are asked to appear in corporate attire.
  • Amongst all the participants, only the best 5 will be filtered for the finals.

BIZ TRIVIA

RULES:

  • No. of participants – 3 members per team.
  • There will be 2 rounds: prelims and mains.
  • Each question will carry 1 mark.
  • Round 1: Prelims - 20 questions (choose the best answer)
  • Round 2 will be revealed on-spot.
  • For each question, 20 seconds will be given.
  • Spelling mistakes are taken into account.
  • The participants shall not be allowed to use mobile or other electronic instruments.
  • Replacement of any participant of a team is not allowed after registration.

STYLE STROKES (T-Shirt Painting)

RULES:

  • Two members in a team (Individual participants can also join).
  • Participants must bring a white half-hand Polo round neck T-shirt.
  • Bring necessary items required; no spray paints, stencils, or pre-made designs.
  • Theme will be announced on the spot.
  • Time limit 45 minutes; late submission will not be accepted.
  • The participants shall not be allowed to use mobile or other electronic instruments.

TRADE TITANS

RULES:

  • There should be only 2 players in each team.
  • There shall be a preliminary round in which all teams should participate and the qualifying teams (numbers will be based on total participants) alone shall proceed to the final round.
  • At least one player per team is required to be compulsorily present for the entire duration of the competition.
  • Every team shall be provided with Virtual Money of 1,000,000 (one million Only).
  • At the end of the event, the teams should sell all their script/shares.
  • Teams with the highest returns and remaining money shall be declared as winners.
  • Do not engage in discussions with members of any other teams.

CHANNEL SURFING

RULES:

  • 4 to 6 members in a team (individual participants can also join).
  • Duration - 5 mins per team.
  • Channel names will be announced by the judges.
  • Criteria for the judging will be revealed on the day of the event.
  • There should not be a time lag in between.

BLOCK AND TACKLE

RULES:

  • The topic will be assigned to the participants On-Spot.
  • No. of rounds – 2.
  • The participant should discuss the benefits and drawbacks of the given topic.
  • Each participant will have 3 minutes.
  • The competition requires a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 participants to compete.
  • Only 5 teams will be selected for the final round.
  • The decision of the judge is final, and no arguments will be heard.
  • Participants are expected to be extremely disciplined.
  • During the rebuttal, participants should follow the chairperson's instructions.

SHOW FEST

Showfest is just like a cinebuff, participants use the projected clues related to film and find out the name of the movie that has been hidden behind the hints. Teams will engage and have fun figuring out the mysteries in the film industry.

RULES:

  • Round 1: Teams guess the names of the famous people from the movie world using specific clues.
  • Round 2: Teams figure out the names of the movies using clues about actors, actresses, directors, music directors, and more.

IPL AUCTION

RULES:

  • 2 – 3 members per team.
  • Round 1: Prelims will be conducted offline (IPL-based quiz).
  • Top 10 teams will be selected for auction.
  • All teams will be given a booklet that contains the list of players to be auctioned along with their respective base prices.
  • 1-5 crores, the bid will be increased by 25 lakhs, 10 crores and above, the bid will be increased by 50 lakhs.
  • Batsman - 5, Bowler - 4, Wicketkeeper - 2, Allrounder - 4, including sub.
  • Winners will be based on the total ratings of the team and bench players too.
  • In case of a tie among the teams, the teams with most remaining budget amount will be the winner.
  • 7 Indian players and 4 International players should be in the final playing 11.
  • Electronic Gadgets such as mobile phones, smart watches are not allowed.
  • No RTM rules.
  • Further details will be provided at the time of event.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!!

RULES:

  • Treat the reels as a 1 min short film.
  • Original content is more welcomed.
  • No vulgar and abusive content.
  • A team can have 1-5 members.
  • There is no specific theme.
  • Only registered members can participate in both front and back of the camera.
  • Duration of the reel is 1.30 min.
  • The reel should be taken only inside Vel Tech University premises.
  • Dubsmash and montages are better to be avoided.
  • Quality of the camera will not decide the winner.

MEME CREATION

RULES:

  • The competition will have 2 rounds.
  • Round 1: Preliminary round.
  • Round 2: Participants will be given a new topic on the spot to create a meme.
  • Participants will be given specific titles on the spot and must create memes based on them.
  • Individual participation or teams with a maximum of 2 members are allowed.
  • Participants can create either an image meme or a video meme.

File Specifications:

  • Image Meme: Must be in .jpg / .jpeg format (Maximum file size: 10 MB).
  • Video Meme: Must be in .mp4 format (Maximum duration: 1 minute).
  • The file must be saved as ‘Participant’s Name’.
  • The meme should be original and not copied from the internet.
  • The content should be in English or a widely understood local language.
  • The meme should be respectful, non-offensive, and free from hate speech, political bias, or sensitive topics. The meme should align accurately with the theme provided.
  • Memes should not contain logos, signatures, or watermarks.
  • 30 minutes will be given for meme creation in each round.
  • Participants can use any digital or manual tool for meme creation.
  • Only one submission per participant/team is allowed.
  • Memes must be submitted to event co-ordinator’s Whatsapp number in a document format.
  • Copied or previously published memes will be disqualified.

  • Creativity & Humor – 50%
  • Relevance to Theme – 50%
