About the Department

Vel-Tech-University-ECE-768x512The Department of ECE of Vel Tech Univesity has been founded in the year 1996, offering programmes in core electronics and industry relevant domains at UG. PG and Ph.D levels. Unique strengths of this department are automotive Electronics, Communication Antenna, Embedded Systems, Small Satellites, VLSI and unmanned Air Vehicles (Drone). Actively associated with organizations such as centre for development of advanced computing C-DAC, Pune), Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI, Pune), NASSCOM, Kwality Photonics etc.,

ECE department is always striving to create careers for students in several industries BOSCH, EMC2, IBM, WIPRO, Shwing Stetter, TCS, Va Tech Wabag Ltd., Zebronics etc., and also enable the students to pursue higher education in renowned foreign institutions such as NJIT USA, Illinois Institute of Technology USA, university of Texas Arlington USA, Nagoya institute of Technology Japan etc., The faculty and students of ECE department won awards like CANEUS Lockheed Martin Award in IISC (Small Satellites), Aegis Graham Bell Award (Unmanned Air Vehicles) and many other innovative achievements.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

  • Programme Educational objectives are the career and life accomplishments that the program prepares graduates to achieve within a few years after graduation. The Electronics and Communication Engineering Department has framed a set of well defined Programme Educational Objectives and Program Outcomes. The Programme Educational Objectives pertain to the requirements of the stake holders such as students, employers, alumni and faculty. The programme educational objectives are as follows:
  • Our graduates will perform in various roles with adequate technical skills in design, development, production and support areas of electronics, communication and allied industries.
  • Our graduates will pursue higher education and will be lifelong learners in their profession, effectively communicate the technical information and work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Our graduates will be ethical, environmental, health and safety concerned in their profession.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES

    After the successful completion of the B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering degree programme, the students should be able to:

  • Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and electronics and communication engineering specialisation to provide solution to complex problems in VLSI, Embedded and Communication systems.
  • Analyse complex problems in VLSI, embedded and communication systems using the principles of mathematics, science, and engineering sciences to reach substantiated conclusions.
  • Design a process or systems components to solve comple problems in VLSI, embedded and Communication systems that meets the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety,cultural, societal, and environmental conditions.
  • Conduct investigations of complex problems in signal processing using research-based knowledge and research methods to provide valid solutions.
  • Select and Apply appropriate modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex activities in communication engineering with an understanding of the limitations.
  • Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional communication engineering practice.
  • Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for the sustainable development.
  • Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the electronics and communication engineering practice.
  • Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams and in multidisciplinary settings.
  • Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.

I am Mr. Bitan Chakraborty, your senior from Vel Tech who graduated in the year 2013. I joined Vel Tech from the very first year of my college they were very motivating and caring about the students and made every possible effort towards the students to guide them towards a bright and prosperous future. I always had my ambitions to go abroad to do my higher studies and Vel Tech helped me to make my dream come true.

When I was in my sixth semester Vel Tech brought an opportunity to us to go abroad and do our final semester internship, from the very first day when heard the news I decided to prepare myself to grab this opportunity. Finally with all the help from all the faculty members and other members of the administration I was able to go to I.S.E.P Paris France to do my final semester internship.

Well the experience at I.S.E.P was very different and amazing for me at the same time. I enjoyed my time at I.S.E.P but at the same time always had one thing in my mind that I had make use of the wonderful opportunity I did good for my internship and I got an opportunity to do my masters in one of the most renowned institutions and I am always greatful to Vel Tech to give this opportunity and to help me make my dream come true.

  • Collaborative Research Project under India Taiwan Science & Technology Cooperation Programme in the area of Micro Electronics
  • Student team competed with various Telecom Companies in the Aegis Graham Bell Awards and won ‘The Best Innovative Business Model 2014’ Award.
  • Institution of  Engineers (India) supported Pico Satellite Developed jointly with five other Institutions
  • Students project idea won prize in International workshop on Small Satellite and Sensor Technology for Disaster Management, held at IISC Bangalore conducted by Caneus International and Lockheed martin Corp, USA
  • Our Students got selected for the Aichi Scholarship among the 10 Students across Asian Countries, IGPGE and MEXT Scholarship to pursue Masters in Nagoya Institute of  Technology (NIT), JAPAN.
