B.Tech Mechanical Engineering (Auto Engg) Admission

The programme is conducted by Vel Tech Dr.RR & Dr.SR University, Chennai in Collaboration with GARC, Chennai and ARAI, Pune to nurture a new breed of engineers required for the ever expanding automotive industry. We thrive to improve the technical & professional skills of the students through various teaching methods and hands-on experience. More curriculum weightage will be given to project based learning that integrates research, education & outreach.

MoU with ARAI and GARC to provide Specialized Technical Education


Vel Tech Dr.RR & Dr.SR University, Avadi, Chennai has entered in to Memorandum of Understanding with Global Automotive Research Centre (GARC), Oragadam, Chennai and The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), Pune to offer a unique combination course, B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering with specialisation in Automobile Engineering, from the 2017-18 academic year, which is specially designed to meet the current requirement of the automotive and allied industries. The MoU was signed in the presence of Shri. Anant G. Geete, Honourable Minister of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Govt. of India , Shri Babul Supriyo, Honourbale Minister of State for Heavy Industry & Public Enterprises,Govt of India and Shri M C Sampath, Honourbale Minister for industries , Govt. of Tamilnadu.

The programme is blended with Mechanical Engineering and Automobile Engineering curriculum with advanced courses like:

The Global Automotive Research Center (GARC) is the Southern centre of NATRiP testing lab to conduct a full spectrum of homologation and performance testing of automobiles ranging from two and three wheelers to heavy commercial vehicles. Students will spend last year at GARC to get exposure to latest technology related to testing and research.

ARAI has state-of-the-art testing facilities and laboratories like the Powertrain Engineering Lab, Emission Certification Lab, Safety & Homologation Lab, Passive Safety Lab, Vehicle Evaluation Lab, Structural Dynamics Lab, Automotive Electronics Lab, Automotive Materials Lab and NVH & CAE Lab. Through ARAI Academy the students get the latest training, which helps them to meet the requirements of the Automotive Industry.

ELIGIBILITY: Minimum 60% of marks in XII or its equivalent examination of any recognized Board/Institution with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as major subjects

GARC is one of the important testing and research Organization in the southern part of India, where the B.Tech students would spent last year of their study”.

ARAI will mentor VELTECH & GARC to run this full time B.Tech Programme with a very high level of commitment and knowledge dissemination. The curriculum has been designed as per the latest technology”.
